Back to Victoria, the state of the roads

I am driving today, so no bike stories from me. Instead, most of this post is a collage of photos from my day on the road, driving from Naracoorte to Edenhope and supporting the cyclists.

Today we cross the border back to Victoria, and spend the night in the Edenhope Motel, a fine example of 1970s motel architecture and decor.

The Ninnes group also passed the border.

We had passed the Border One Publick House very few settlers anywhere about Crossed the Wimmera at Salter Wohlens Station.

A highlight today is our dinner at the Border Inn in Apsley. There’s slim pickings for food in Edenhope on this Sunday night and some frantic googling uncovers this little gem, recently reopened after a car crashed into it in 2022, causing extensive damage to the historic building. The pub has bounced back, offering excellent food and great atmosphere. It seems to be a real community gathering spot.

At the end of a day’s ride, our tradition is to enjoy a beer, and to photograph it for posterity. Today’s beer picture was taken at The Edenhope Motel. Even though I wasn’t riding I took a picture, and borrowed one from Pat Dorey, both of which show the salubriousness of our surroundsings.
